黄文弼是20世纪西域考古探险时代中唯一的中国考古学家。他从1928年以来，前后四次进入新疆，在艰苦年代里公布的西北文献资料，在典籍传播、回鹘历史、西域社会、摩尼教流传、中古经济制度研究方面，迅速成为国际学界引人瞩目的宝库。本论集第一次全面汇集了海内外研究黄文弼所获西域文献的重要论文26篇，其中许多外文研究论文均为首次以中文发表。本论集适合于从事中亚与西域历史、考古、语言、文学、文献、民族等相关学科的专家学者和大专院校师生参考、阅读。
